Why ScopeCrafters exists.
ScopeCrafters was built because a roofing contractor friend kept losing entire Sunday evenings to writing proposals after his kids went to bed. He'd quote 4 jobs on a Saturday and write proposals for 2 of them by Tuesday — the other 2 fell through because the homeowner went with whoever responded first.
Generic AI tools couldn't help him. ChatGPT didn't know what ice-and-water-shield code section to reference. It would invent shingle brand names. It would write proposals that read like ChatGPT wrote them — which is exactly what homeowners are now trained to spot.
So I built a tool that knew the trade. Not a generic AI wrapper. A purpose-built proposal generator with curated prompts that understand SEER2, AHRI matchups, refrigerant transitions, ice-and-water-shield code, RCV vs ACV insurance terminology, NEC AFCI requirements, and UPC plumbing code. Output that looks like a real contractor wrote it — because the prompts are tuned by someone who studies how real contractors write proposals.
The founder
I'm a senior engineer who works on production agentic AI systems for a living — LangGraph orchestration, WebRTC voice agents, Gemini Live STT, multilingual customer-facing AI on a 500,000-customer omnichannel platform.
ScopeCrafters is my side experiment to take the AI-engineering skills I use at work and apply them to a specific, painful problem that small-to-mid contractors face. The thing I've learned building production AI is that prompt curation per domain is the actual moat — not the model, not the infrastructure. Every trade ScopeCrafters supports has hand-tuned prompts based on actually reading proposals from working contractors in that trade.
