Alternatives to field service software, for the proposal part
Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Buildertrend and JobNimbus are built to run a business: book the job, dispatch the truck, collect the money. They all have a quote or estimate screen. None of them write the scope for you. You still sit down at night and type out what's included, what isn't, and what happens when the attic turns out to be a mess.
ScopeCrafters only does that last part. You type the job the way you'd tell your crew, and it drafts the proposal: trade-specific scope, exclusions, change-order terms and warranty, as a branded PDF. That makes it a different kind of tool, and these pages treat it that way. Each one says who should stay put, who should add ScopeCrafters, and who might not need the big platform at all.
Where each tool fits
| Tool | Built for | Writes the scope for you? | Best paired with ScopeCrafters when… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jobber | Small home-service crews | No, you build line items | You quote replacements or installs, not just repairs |
| Housecall Pro | Residential service shops | Helps word estimates | Your proposals need more detail than a price list |
| ServiceTitan | Large residential shops | No | You're a small shop that doesn't need enterprise ops |
| Buildertrend | Builders and remodelers | No | You're a trade sub, not the GC |
| JobNimbus | Roofing and exterior CRM | No | You write a lot of insurance and supplement scopes |
Summary only. Details, pricing and verification dates are on each comparison page.
Frequently asked questions
Is ScopeCrafters a replacement for Jobber or Housecall Pro?▼
For most shops, no. Those tools run scheduling, dispatch, invoicing and payments. ScopeCrafters only writes the proposal. Contractors usually keep their FSM and use ScopeCrafters for the jobs where the written scope wins or loses the bid.
When does it make sense to drop the FSM entirely?▼
When you're a one- or two-truck shop paying for features you don't use. If you schedule on a paper calendar and invoice from QuickBooks anyway, a proposal tool plus your accounting software may be all you need.
Do any of these integrate with ScopeCrafters?▼
Not yet. Today you send the ScopeCrafters PDF, and once the customer signs you create the job in your FSM. It's a copy step, usually a couple of minutes.
Where do your competitor prices come from?▼
Each vendor's public pricing page, checked on the date shown on each comparison. Prices change, so check the vendor's site before you decide. If something is out of date, email us and we'll fix it.
Which comparison should I read?▼
Read the one for the tool you use or are evaluating. Each page covers a different angle: Jobber for small home-service crews, Housecall Pro for residential HVAC and plumbing, Buildertrend for remodelers and their subs, JobNimbus for roofers working insurance claims.
